Materials
Selenite is a crystal form of the mineral Gypsum (CaSO4*2H20)-- a hydrated calcium sulfate mineral. This mineral has a hardness of 2, and is typically colorless or white, although that can vary. It has a vitreous or pearly luster, and grows crystals in tabular and needle-like forms, often forming rosettes. If the crystals form a compact mass, we call it alabaster. [Mineralogy, Perkins]

Sunstone is a member of the Alkali Feldspar Group , as either Orthoclase or Microcline, with the formula (KAlSi3O8). It has a hardness of 6 on the Mohs scale. Sunstone is notable for its orange color and internal light reflection (schiller effect), and may gain additional sparkle from small internal crystals of hematite. It is related to Amazonite, the blue-green colored variety of Microcline.
